GIANT PUPPY From 2 to 8 months The period from 5 to 8 months is one of gradual consolidation, during which the Giant puppy reaches 90% of its adult size. At this stage, it is fundamental to have the correct balance between weight gain and mineralization of the skeleton to avoid any risk of bone deformation. A time of intensive skeleton formation During this 2nd stage, the Giant puppy almost reaches its adult stature. At 8 months it will have multiplied its birth weight by 5-fold! To care for the skeleton during the consolidation stage, the weight gain must be strictly controlled, as any excess weight can lead to an excessive pressure on joints which are not yet completely ossified. Moreover, the puppy's digestive system is now mature but it hasn't yet got all its adult teeth ? the molars only erupt at about 5/7 months. | |
